Paula developed a non-profit called Minnesota Alternatives Incorporated. The non-profit group is working to raise funds to help fill a serious void and provide an array of person-centered services that may include a health clinic, harm reduction outreach and overdose awareness/prevention, palliative support, and a Peer Support Community Center.
The first priority of the non-profit is to raise funds for a Peer Support Community Center that opened January 5th, 2015. The drop in hours are Monday - Thursday from 4-8pm located in the same building (across the lobby) as the clinical services provided by Minnesota Alternatives.
Please come and check out a couple different peer support groups. Mondays from 6:00 - 8:00 is an All Recovery Meeting and Thursday is SMART Recovery from 6:30 - 800.
The Community Center offers:
- A drop-in center where adults can build community and connect with others
- Snacks, coffee and a place to just hang out
- Socialization and fun – for examples, movies, dances, arts, games, drumming
- Educational activities to learn skills and address topics of interest
- Resource information and help getting necessary benefits
- Healing and health promotion that may include music, mindfulness, relaxation, and movement
- Support including help for families, SMART Recovery group, and recovery coaching
- A place to give back and help support others
